Privacy Policy
Cordón is an app that automatically detects when a driver leaves a street-parking spot and alerts other drivers within 300 meters (about 1,000 feet). It needs your location to do that. This policy explains what data we use, why, who it is shared with, and the control you have over it.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is Pablo J. Baglioni, developer of Cordón, based in Argentina. Contact: pbaglioni@gmail.com.
2. What data we process
| Data | What we use it for | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Email address and password when you create an account, plus an internal user ID | Signing you in and tying alerts to an account. We never see your password; Firebase Authentication manages it. | Firebase Authentication (Google) |
| Precise location while the app is open | Showing you on the map and looking up freed spots within 300 m. Your position is sent to the server for that lookup and is not stored. | Processed on your device and on the server, not stored |
| Precise location in the background («Always» permission) | Detecting that you left a parking spot even while you use Waze or Google Maps. The movement analysis (being stationary and then driving away) runs on your device; the app does not upload your route. | On your device only |
| Freed-spot alert: spot coordinates, date and time, and the user ID of who reported it | Showing the spot to nearby drivers. Other users only see a dot on the map with the time; they cannot see who reported it. | Cloud Firestore (Google). Stops being shown after 3 minutes and is automatically deleted shortly after (within 24 hours) |
| Approximate street address of where you are | Showing the street and number on the alert card. Converting coordinates to an address is done by your operating system's geocoding service (Apple on iPhone, Google on Android). | Not stored by us |
| Garages you mark as "not the street" | Avoiding false alerts when you leave a private garage. | On your device only |
| Notification token and approximate area (if you agree to receive notifications): the device token, a grid cell about 150 m wide where you are, your language and your user ID | Sending you the alert when a spot is freed near you, even when the app is closed. We do not store your exact position or a history of areas: only the latest cell. | Cloud Firestore (Google) and Apple and Google notification services. Updated while you use the app and deleted automatically after 48 hours without activity, when you sign out or when you delete your account |
We do not collect your name, contacts, photos, health data or payment data. Cordón is free and has no in-app purchases.
3. Location permissions and how to control them
The app asks for the system location permission. Without the «Always» permission it cannot detect your departure automatically, but you can still see freed spots near you while the app is open. You can change or withdraw the permission at any time in your phone's Settings → Cordón → Location, and do the same for notifications. If you withdraw it, the app stops using your location.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell or rent your data and we do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking. To work, we use providers that process data on our behalf:
- Google (Firebase and Google Maps Platform): authentication, database, cloud functions, notifications and the map. Google may receive technical data such as your IP address and device information under its privacy policy.
- Apple: push notification service and geocoding on iPhone, under Apple's privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if required by law or by a competent authority.
5. How long we keep data
- Account: until you delete it.
- Freed-spot alerts: visible for 3 minutes; automatically deleted within 24 hours at most.
- Notification token and approximate area: only the latest one; deleted after 48 hours without activity, when you sign out or when you delete your account.
- Background location and marked garages: stay on your device only and are removed when you uninstall the app.
- Trip history: we do not keep any.
6. Your rights and how to delete your account
You can ask us for access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. You can delete your account at any time from within the app: Account → Delete my account. The account is deleted immediately, and any freed-spot alerts you generated delete themselves within 24 hours at most. You can also request it by email at pbaglioni@gmail.com from the address you signed up with; we complete it within 30 days. In Argentina, the Agencia de Acceso a la Información Pública (AAIP) is the supervisory authority under Law 25.326 on Personal Data Protection. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the rights recognized by the GDPR, including the right to complain to your supervisory authority.
7. Security
Communication between the app and the servers uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and the servers only answer requests from signed-in users. No system is perfectly secure, but we apply reasonable measures to protect your data.
8. Children
Cordón is designed for drivers and is not directed to people under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors; if you believe a minor created an account, email us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and the date above. For important changes we will notify you in the app.
